It is not often that we are graced with Tinseltown dwellers here in little Rhody's city by the sea. My first customer at Beauty Walk today was Tony Goldwyn, who recently directed "Betty Anne Waters," a film based on the true story of my friend's mother. He was in with his two daughters and I recognized him as a familiar face but didn't make the connection until I looked at his credit card receipt and he was out the door. I'm kicking myself for not striking up a conversation! I would love to know what he's doing in Newport and get some info about the movie. I'm quite sad about it.
In fairly unrelated news, I am very excited to see It's Complicated tonight. Let's hope I don't feel asleep in the theater again. Why am I narcoleptic?

Hot fudge lines.
I have a friend whose name will remain unsaid. This friend thinks quite highly of himself, but we all love him in spite of this. Please enjoy a sampling of some of his recent memorable quotations...
"When I was a middle school substitute teacher, they wouldn't let me in the hallways. The little girls were crazy for me."
"I only date 9's and 10's."
"I used to model. Check out my pictures."

Children's literature
"...I felt like a magical little girl, a chosen little girl, like Alice who has fallen into Wonderland. This feeling has yet to leave me." -from Missing May, by Cynthia Rylant
This book, along with many other phenomenal young adult novels, has inspired me to create two new personal goals: read at least 20 Newbery Medal books in 2010 and write a children's book by 2020 (realistic goals? I hope so...).

Wine
Why is it that fermented grapes taste so delicious and make me feel so good? Such a strange concept, and one that I will not ponder, but accept. Red makes me giggle, white makes me feel like a mom who looks forward to her chardonnay on the rocks at the end of a rough day. I prefer to stick with red. Talk amongst yourselves.
Love. actually. is. all. around.
Here is my favorite scene from my favorite feel good holiday flick ever. Hope it puts a smile on the faces of those who had a less than exciting morning due to this icky "snowstorm" in RI.

I'm not as interesting as I'd like to be...
I am being forced to create a blog for one of my grad classes and this whole thing makes me a little insecure. I'm not sure my life and/or thoughts are interesting enough to read about and follow, but luckily I have some classmates that are required to follow me. I give this a thumbs up and will use this blog to inspire me to lead a more interesting life (or just share my thoughts about the lives of others). Stay tuned for more musing...
